NOTICE OF VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETING PROPOSED COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Smiths Falls will hold a virtual/electronic public meeting on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 5:00 PM to consider a proposed Community Improvement Plan pursuant to the provisions of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990.  Please see below for information on how to provide comments or participate in the virtual public meeting.

The Community Improvement Plan has been prepared by Dillon Consulting Limited and is proposed to be Town-wide (see Key Map below), with certain incentive programs proposed for the downtown and waterfront area only. The purpose of the proposed Community Improvement Plan is to: create more attainable housing; revitalize the downtown and waterfront; and encourage the redevelopment and rehabilitation of underutilized but potentially contaminated properties commonly referred to as ‘brownfields’. The proposed Community Improvement Plan includes policies and programs to incentivize these types of development.

TAKE NOTICE any person may attend the virtual public meeting and/or make written or oral representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Community Improvement Plan.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Corporation of the Town of Smiths Falls before the Community Improvement is passed by Council, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Smiths Falls to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
