Public Notice: Community Lead Testing Program – Volunteers Needed

The Town of Smith Falls is resuming the Community Lead Testing Program, which was suspended due to COVID-19 to protect the health and safety of our employees and Residents/Users.

Lead can enter the water supply from lead service pipes and/or lead solder in your home’s plumbing. If your house or business was built prior to 1955 you may have lead plumbing within your home.  Homes built before 1990 may have used lead solder.  In 1989 the building code was changed to ban lead piping and the use of lead solder.

The Town is currently seeking volunteers interested in participating in this voluntary Community Lead Testing Program.
