The Town is an active participant in the Rideau Corridor Landscape Strategy (RCLS), which is an initiative that Parks Canada is undertaking in partnership with various municipalities and stakeholders. This strategy, when completed, will identify the significant features of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and means of protecting and enhancing those features. The Town's 2010 Master Planning Task Forces, called for heritage preservation, waterfront recognition and connection of the waterfront to the community. The greater RCLS will be of benefit to help meet these local objectives.
The Mayor sits on the Steering Committee and the Director of Planning and Sustainable Growth serves on the Planner's Technical Advisory Group.
