Town of Smiths Falls Launches Pet Friendly Smiths Falls Project

Smiths Falls, ON -The Town is proud to announce the launch of the Pet-Friendly Smiths Falls Project which aims to establish Smiths Falls as a haven for pets and their humans, fostering a welcoming environment where four-legged companions are celebrated and provided with an exceptional quality of life.

With a deep understanding of the integral role that pets play in our lives, the Pet-Friendly Smiths Falls Project is focused on creating a community that goes above and beyond to accommodate the needs and well-being of both pets and their owners. The project is spearheaded by a collaboration between local businesses and the Economic Development and Tourism Department who share a common vision of a truly pet-friendly town.

“We have been getting questions and feedback about what places in town allow pets” said Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism. “The program is an opportunity for Smiths Falls to establish itself as a premier pet-friendly destination, attracting visitors from far and wide who seek a community that values the well-being and happiness of all its residents and visitors, whether they have two legs or four.”

The key feature of the Pet-Friendly Smiths Falls Project will involve the participating Pet-Friendly Businesses displaying a distinctive "Pet-Friendly Smiths Falls" decal, indicating their commitment to accommodating pets. These establishments will welcome pets with open arms providing pet-friendly seating areas, and even special treats and branded pet bandanas for furry visitors. The Town had also previously installed a number of pet friendly receptacles in the Downtown Core where pet owners can responsibly obtain and deposit doggie bags.

The Pet-Friendly Smiths Falls Project invites residents, businesses, and pet enthusiasts to join this exciting endeavor.
