Animal Control By-law
At The Town of Smiths Falls, we understand the vital role pets play in our families and in our community. The Town’s Animal Control and By-law Department is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all pets and community members. Our Animal Control Services focus on addressing concerns related to lost, stray and nuisance companion animals, as well as promoting responsible pet ownership in our community.
The Town of Smiths Falls animal control regulations are based on the Town’s Animal Control By-law No. 8856-2016.

Pet Licensing |
Ensuring that pets are licensed is an important part of responsible pet ownership. The Town of Smiths Falls requires all cats and dogs to be licensed with The Town yearly. Registration can be completed at the Town Hall where a tag will be provided. |
Off-leash Animals |
For the safety of your dog, other pets, and community members, it is essential to keep your dog on-leash in all municipal spaces. The Town of Smiths Falls requires dogs be leashed to prevent accidents, protect wildlife and pets, and ensure public safety. The Gleeson Dog Park is an off-leash dog park provided by the municipality to allow a safe space for dogs to play.
