Applications for Community Grants Are Now Being Accepted!

Smiths Falls, ON – Community organizations and individuals seeking funding support for 2024 projects can now submit applications for the Municipal Community Grants Program.

The Town of Smiths Falls recognizes the importance in supporting those that work to improve the well-being of the community and the quality of life for its residents and/or attract visitors to support businesses and the economy.  The Town is committed to providing modest financial assistance to eligible applicants through this annual funding program which is provided each year from the municipality’s operating budget approved by Council through the annual budget process. 

In October, Council adopted changes to the previous Municipal Grants Policy to expand eligibility and set out additional funding allocations and program guidelines. This included incorporating the On The Roll Program, which provided funding for arts and cultural activations like music performances, art programs and community cultural events. This change ensures all grant requests to the municipality are streamlined through one fair and transparent process. 

This updated grant program will provide funding to support or enhance operational and programming capacity, including minor capital investments for local not-for-profit organizations, as well as provide funding for non-incorporated groups and individuals (including business owners) looking to host events, activations and programs within the community. 

Applications for funding can be submitted from November 1^st through to November 30^th. Funding will be available to approved applicants after the final budget has been adopted by Council in February of 2024.

Program guidelines and application forms are available on the Town’s website at www.smithsfalls.ca/CommunityGrants and can be summitted by email or in person to Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism at jcrowder@smithsfalls.ca or by dropping off hard copy forms at the Town Hall Reception.
