WHEREAS Circular Economy Month is Canada's public awareness campaign dedicated to educating and empowering Canadians to support an economy that delivers on the most important values of Canadians: protecting the plant and prioritizing people; and

WHEREAS since 2001, hundreds of organizations from Yellowknife to St. Johns proclaimed Waste Reduction Week in Canada and, more recently, Circular Economy Month; and

WHEREAS by making a public declaration, we are committing to take action to support our natural resources, protecting the environment, supporting local economies, and safeguarding the wellbeing of your community. Climate change cannot wait any longer.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, I, Shawn Pankow, Mayor of the Town of Smiths Falls, do hereby declare our support for a Canadian circular economy and proclaim October, 2024 as Circular Economy Month in the Town of Smiths Falls.
