Included in 35 participating municipalities across Ontario, the Town now offers an online marriage application process for soon-to-be married couples. This pilot program brought together by the province is being introduced through a phased-in implementation, with province-wide expansion targeted by early 2025.

“This latest expansion of our Online Marriage Licence Application will make it easier and more convenient for Ontario couples to get married than ever before,” said Todd McCarthy, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery. “This is just one of the many examples of our government’s commitment to build simpler, faster, and better services that save Ontarians their precious time and effort.”

Applicants can apply online and submit their identification and supporting documents electronically through a secure portal. Once the information is submitted, the municipal office will be notified for staff review and processing. The final step to obtain a licence is an in-person appointment to provide signatures and any missing documentation.

“We are pleased to participate in a project that will help us modernize one of our services, create efficiency for our staff, and allow an additional convenience for our residents” said Mayor Shawn Pankow.

The Town will continue to offer paper applications, which can be obtained on our website or by visiting Town Hall. Marriage licences are valid within Ontario, and for 90 days from the date of issue.
