Old Home Week 2025, a celebration that is held every 25 years, is just around the corner on August 2-9, 2025. It all started in 1925 with an invitation to past residents to come home for a week of festivities and reunions. It was repeated in 1950, 1976, and 2000. This much anticipated event is set to be the biggest and most exciting one yet!

The intention is to have a vibrant opening parade, a popular nightshirt parade, service club events, heartwarming school and family reunions, church services, music bands and dances, sporting events, enlightening tours of local historical sights, exhilarating fairgrounds, local vendors showcasing their talent and wares, plus lively buskers adding to the festive atmosphere. The OHW committee encourages all to share the news with friends and family in the hopes that we can provide our current and past residents an unforgettable experience!

With the committee still in the planning stages, they encourage service groups and businesses to get involved and consider hosting an event or working with the committee to develop activation and activities.

The committee has produced postcards for the community to send away inviting all relatives and friends back home. The postcards are being circulated directly to residents and are available throughout town, including Rideau Home Hardware Building Centre, Smiths Falls Welcome Centre and Town Hall reception, Victoria Park Visitor Centre and Marina and the Heritage House Museum.

“This proud town event is a true homage to our citizens, past, present and future as well as a heartfelt tribute to our rich history! The 8-day event will be filled with unforgettable experiences for both young and old.” said committee co-chair Christa Dales Donnelly.
