2023 Shoot for the Falls Photo Contest

Smiths Falls, ON - The Town of Smiths Falls is excited to launch the 2023 Shoot for the Falls photo contest that aims to collect the 12 best photos of Smiths Falls for the 2024 Municipal Calendar.

“Every day we see so many amazing photos of our Town shared on different platforms by residents, tourists, amateur and professional photographers and some of them even date back to decades ago allowing us to travel back in time,” said Mayor Pankow. “Using the Municipal Calendar to showcase the beauty of our Town as well as the talent of both amateur and professional photographers is what makes the Municipal Calendar one of our most requested items at Town Hall”.

“Last year we received over 200 image submissions from both residents and visitors to Smiths Falls”, said Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism. “Our biggest challenge was actually selecting only 12 out of all the great submissions we received.”

The 12 best photos are selected through an evaluation process by the Economic Development and Tourism department and the photographers of the 12 shots each receive $50 in Downtown Dollars as well as photo credit in the Municipal Calendar.

Those who would like to participate can easily submit their photos at https://www.smithsfalls.ca/photocontest . Each photographer is allowed a maximum of 10 images. Images of of landscape, nature and architecture, public art, icons, heritage sites or community activities in Smiths Falls are highly encouraged. If your submission is selected for the 2024 calendar, you will receive an email from the Town advising you on when to collect your Downtown Dollars at Town Hall.

The contest will run from Wednesday, August 2^nd to Tuesday, September 5^th.
