Significant Weather Event Banner

The Town of Smiths Falls will declare a significant weather event as of 10:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025, due to the forecasted storm, in accordance with Regulation 239/02 of the Municipal Act, 2001 (as amended).

This declaration suspends the standard timelines required for the Town of Smiths Falls to meet their winter maintenance objectives until the municipality declares the significant weather event has ended. Given the anticipated severity of the winter conditions forecasted by Environment Canada (https://weather.gc.ca/en/location/index.html?coords=44.902,-76.02) from late Friday March 28, 2025 through Monday March 31, 2025, it is expected that it may take longer than usual to bring streets and sidewalks/walkways back to a state of repair. Please allow Public Works staff time and space to carry out winter maintenance operations.

The Town of Smiths Falls will post an update on the Town’s website and social media once the municipality declares the event has ended.
