Smiths Falls and Area Job Fair Coming in April

Employers and job seekers are invited to the Smiths Falls and Area Job Fair on Wednesday, April 10^th, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Smiths Falls Youth Arena, located at 71A Lansdowne Street.

Organized in partnership with ontrac Employment Resource Services, Smiths Falls & District Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Advisory Centre, Valley Heartland, and the Smiths Falls Downtown Business Association, the job fair will connect job seekers with local employers in Smiths Falls and area as well as provide information on training opportunities and funding in various fields.

The job fair is free for employers and members of the public. In addition to employers being in attendance, there are also 8 trainers and educators currently registered to provide information and assistance.

“This is the 3^rd year for this great event. Whether you are seeking employees to fill full-time, part-time, or seasonal positions, the job fair will provide a platform to meet diverse talent and skills under one roof” said Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism. “We are also thankful to our business support partners for all they do to assist in planning and hosting each year.”

Last year’s job fair attracted dozens of employers and just over 400 employment seekers. A follow up from the Economic Development Department determined there were successful on-site screenings followed by scheduled interviews, which led to positive outcomes and job matches.

There are 50 employer booths available, on a first come first serve basis. Businesses from Smiths Falls and area with current employment opportunities are asked to contact Joanne Watson of ontrac Employment Services at jwatson@getontrac.ca  or 613-283-6978 to register and secure a spot.
