“We were so excited last year to learn that Smiths Falls was selected as a Still Standing town. We are a community of hardworking resilient people who don’t give up. Our community over the years have seen its ups and downs, which makes us interesting, and I think that’s why we were chosen,” says Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development & Tourism.
The Smiths Falls episode of CBC’s Still Standing was filmed on location in Smiths Falls, on May 8th of this year, at the Smiths Falls Community Centre. Hosted, produced and written by Johnny Harris, who is also known for his role as Constable George Crabtree on Murdoch Mysteries, the series has won six Canadian Screen Awards. Each episode is a profile of a resilient Canadian community and features a profile of the community alongside a special curated evening of stand-up comedy, performed live in front of the local audience.
The episode will be airing on CBC and CBC GEM, on Tuesday, October 22 at 8:30 PM (ET). For more info on the episode and details on where you can view the episode at home, please visit cbc.ca.
