Town of Smiths Falls mourns the death of former Councillor Joseph Gallipeau
Smiths Falls, ON - It is with great sadness that the Town has learnt of the death of former Town Councillor Joseph Gallipeau that took place on Wednesday October 11th, 2023.
“Joe” as he was fondly known in town, was born and raised in Smiths Falls and served as a Town Councillor for the 2014-2018 term where his loyalty and dedication to the development of Smiths Falls was always evident. Additionally, Joe was a successful businessman and the owner of J.A. Gallipeau Construction who will be remembered as a pillar in the community whose love for Smiths Falls and commitment to his work led to the development and construction of hundreds of homes in Smiths Falls and surrounding areas.
“The Town of Smiths Falls mourns the loss of a great community pillar. Joe Gallipeau’s dedication to serving and continuously investing in the growth of our town was admirable”, said mayor Shawn Pankow. “His work has left an incredible mark in our town and his legacy will carry on through the hundreds of homes that we now enjoy in Smiths Falls.”
The Town of Smiths Falls’ Mayor, Council and Staff offer their deepest condolences to his beloved wife Diane Gallipeau, his daughter Tracy Gallipeau-Nolan, his son Todd Gallipeau, his friends and entire family.
Flags at all Town of Smiths Falls sites have been lowered to half mast in honour of former Councillor Joe Gallipeau and will remain so until his graveside service.
