WHEREAS World Mental Health Day is October 10th ,2024; and WHEREAS this years' campaign is "Mental Health at Work; and

WHEREAS unhealthy conditions including stigma, discrimination, and exposure to risks like harassment and other poor working conditions, can pose significant risks, affecting mental health, overall quality of life and consequently participation or productivity at work; and

WHEREAS a supportive work environment fosters mental health, providing purpose and stability; and

WHEREAS Employers should apply reasonable accommodations to support workers with mental health conditions in the workplace; and

WHEREAS Governments, employers, and representative organizations must work together to create policies that prevent mental health risks, promote well-being, and build supportive workplaces where mental health is prioritized.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, I, Shawn Pankow, Mayor of the Town of Smiths Falls, do hereby proclaim October 10^th, 2024 as World Mental Health Day in the Town of Smiths Falls.
