In order to provide further convenience to the public we are now offering an online application service for record checks. The advantage of our online service is that you may not need to appear in person and you can monitor the status of your application online. Whether you need the Police Record Check for employment or volunteer work, this is a simple, secure, accessible and quick way to access information. Please note that there is a minimal fee for applying online regardless if it is for employment or volunteer purposes.
Smiths Falls Police Service can now provide a basic Criminal Record Check to anyone regardless of your home address. However, we are still legally restricted to provide Vulnerable Sector Screening checks to residents of the Town of Smiths Falls only.
The Smiths Falls Police Service provides two methods of you receiving a criminal record check – You may use our online service (using the link below) to conduct your check in the comfort of your home or you may attend the front desk of the Smiths Falls Police Service which is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Applications received online that pass the identity verification (EIV) and successful payment online are receiving their completed application FASTER than attending in person. The result is emailed back to you within 48 hours.
Applications that do not pass EIV, and/or are unsuccessful with payment, remain in the application queue and are given priority. Applicants then have the option of attending our office at 7 Hershey Drive or any Canada Post office to finish completing their application, and their request is given priority.
If attending either location, please ensure that you bring your online request reference number and two (2) pieces of valid identification. One (1) piece of identification must contain your photo. If you are attending the Smiths Falls Police Service to submit payment, please take note that we only accept cash.
