The Town of Smiths Falls awarded Contract 24-PW-011 for the Milling of Asphalt, Grading, Hot Mix Paving and Miscellaneous Concrete & Rehabilitation to Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited. Construction will be taking place between August 6th and September 30th, 2024.

Work will be taking place on the following streets:

 William Street West (William Street and Abbott Street Intersection to Railway Museum)
 Curb will be replaced, and sidewalk installed on the east side to the Railway Museum. The concrete median at William Street West will have an accessibly adapted sidewalk installed. There will be single lane traffic access to the area.
 Chambers Street (Beckwith Street to Market Street)
 The existing asphalt will be milled and replaced. The roadway will be closed for works and a detour will be in place to facilitate the work.
 Bay Street (Chambers Street to Main Street)
 Bay Street isolated curb will be replaced as well as the sidewalk at the Northeast corner of Bay Street and Main Street. Bay Street and the intersection at Main Street will be milled and repaved with asphalt. The roadway will be closed for works and a detour will be in place to facilitate the work.
 Greig Street (Union Street to Condie Street)
 The existing asphalt will be milled and replaced. The roadway will be closed for works and a detour will be in place to facilitate the work.
 Elmsley Street North (Johnson Street to the Hospital North Parking Lot)
 The existing asphalt will be milled and replaced. The roadway will be closed for works and a detour will be in place to facilitate the work.
 McGill Street (Chambers Street to Beckwith Street)
 Existing isolated sidewalk driveway depressions will be re-installed where needed and asphalt will be placed along the sidewalk edge for improved transition. The roadway will be closed for works and a detour will be in place to facilitate the work.
 Lombard Street (20m West of Beckwith Street to Entrance into Victoria Park)
 A new sidewalk and isolated curb replacement will be installed on the north side of the roadway.  There will be single lane traffic access to the area.
 Lee Avenue North (Ferrara Drive to 100m South of Ferrara Drive on the West Side of the Street)
 A new sidewalk will be placed on the west side of the street to the new park area. The roadway will be closed for works and a detour will be in place to facilitate the work.
Old Sly’s Road (Fixed bridge to the pedestrian Lower Reach Park entrance on the west side of the roadway)
A new sidewalk will be placed on the west side of the street continuing to the Lower Reach pedestrian entrance way. Traffic control will be single lane closures and the roadway will be accessible to traffic/residents.
